Antimicrobial stewardship: self-assessment toolkit for integrated care boards

  15 January 2025

The toolkit is designed for integrated care board (ICB) antimicrobial resistance leads, supporting compliance with the NHS Act 2006’s duty to improve service quality. It helps inform antimicrobial stewardship assurance reporting in CQC assessments of integrated care systems. ICB responsibilities include identifying an antimicrobial resistance lead, understanding infection and antimicrobial prescribing trends, addressing issues, developing pathway-based approaches, and ensuring antimicrobial resistance is part of prevention plans. The Care Quality Commission (CQC) assesses the quality and safety of integrated care system services under the Health and Care Act 2022.
